Sino Iron commenced construction in 2010 and the first line was commissioned in 2012, it is a large, open cut, iron ore mine located near Cape Preston in the North West region of Western Australia. The plant is focused on recovering magnetite from the Dales Gorge and Joffre Members, at the top of the Brockman Iron Formation. The large open cut pit feeds a concentrator, this is where the majority of EMF’s work is due to having six operational lines each with two mills, an AG mill powered by a twenty-eight megawatt (28MW) gearless drive motor and a ball mill powered by twin eight-megawatt motors with twin drive pinions to girth gear, as well as the vast amount of ancillary equipment such as pumps, magnetic separators, thickener tanks and more.
